Amorphophallus kienluongensis (Araceae), a new species from the Mekong Delta, Southern Vietnam Naturalis
Nguyen, V.D.; Luu, H.T.; Nguyen, Q.D.; Hetterscheid, W.L.A..
Amorphophallus kienluongensis is described as a new species from southern Vietnam. It is morphologically close to A. brevispathus Gagnep. (Thailand) and A. prolificus Hett. & A.Galloway (Thailand). However, it differs from both these species by a stigma with a central depression and an obconic male portion. So far A. kienluongensis is known only from the Kien Luong district of the Kien Giang province, southern Vietnam. The plant grows on limestone hills where its habitat is under threat owing to quarrying for cement manufacture. Therefore this species could be ranked as CR (‘critically endangered’) in the IUCN ranking.

Botanical bibliography of the Araceae of Malesia, Australia, and the tropical western Pacific region Naturalis
Hay, A.; Hetterscheid, W.L.A.; Murata, J.; Boyce, P.C.; Bogner, J.; Jacobsen, N..
To complement the ‘Checklist of the Araceae of Malesia, Australia and the Tropical Western Pacific region’, a bibliography has been prepared as a basis for further work on the aroids of these areas. It is based on, but much extended from, an unpublished bibliography of Malesian Araceae assembled by the late Prof. Dr. C.G.G.J. van Steenis. It includes the ‘core’ taxonomic literature, i.e. that in which new nomenclature is introduced, and, in addition, numerous items appear which enumerate species, report expedition results, describe aspects of aroid biology, deal with nomenclatural matters etc. Flora accounts and extensive revisions of genera occurring in the region have been included for neighbouring areas. Those papers in which Araceae appear as but a...

The emendation of the fern genus Christiopteris, including the transference of two taxa to the microsorioid Polypodiaceae Naturalis
Hennipman, E.; Hetterscheid, W.L.A..
In the present paper the genus Christiopteris is emended. The species C. tricuspis and C. sagitta are retained in the genus. C. variant proved to consist of two different species, both originally published as formas. To one of these the rank of species is given, the other one remains as the typical form to C. variant. Furthermore, both species are transferred to the genus Microsorium (Polypodiaceae).

Venation patterns, soral characteristics, and shape of the fronds of the microsorioid Polypodiaceae Naturalis
Hetterscheid, W.L.A.; Hennipman, E..
The present paper deals with a detailed study of the venation, soral shape and distribution, and frondshape of the microsorioid Polypodiaceae, including taxa generally referred to the genera Christiopteris, Colysis, Dendroconche, Dendroglossa, Diblemma, Lecanopteris, Leptochilus, Microsorium, Neocheiropteris, Neolepisorus, Paraleptochilus, Phymatodes, and Podosorus. The fascinating diversity found in the characters studied is used to classify the taxa into 19 groups, which can be arranged into two main groups, using ontogenetic data of the venation. The results suggest that the following genera can be united: Colysis, Dendroglossa, and Paraleptochilus, whereas Dendroconche and Diblemma should be merged with Microsorium. The latter genus is remarkably...
